The Sound of Awakening

A Rumble

We talk of the Next Great Awakening, we feel it rumbling like a geyser beneath our feet, but what can we expect it to look like? More importantly to this
post, what could we expect it to sound like? Well let's see what we have in front of us right now to see where we are going. We see a lot of the church in hymnals, contemporary worship, or gospel. These three dominate praise and worship in the church. We also see a lot of debate in regards to what form of worship is acceptable. Hymnal v. Contemporary v. Gospel. Where the church gets it wrong are these are all acceptable means of worship and all of it should be used! The Hymns should be brought into the church and used alongside the synth-ed out chords of contemporary worship along side the freedom and praise in gospel. I believe the Sound of Awakening will be characterized and recognized by a conjoining of the streams of worship. When the sounds become so blended that there becomes no lines in our worship. Then, I believe we have heard the whispered song of awakening. The songs I believe will also bring congregations and voices together that, otherwise, would never have mixed. I also believe the Sound of Awakening will be recognized by a sound of evangelism. Songs will be written with the lost at heart and in mind. The songs written during the awakening will be anointed with an oil that draws the lost to it, and it will be used as a weapon of evangelism. This generation is characterized by a heart for the lost and missions and the sound they release will convey the same heart! The Sound of Awakening will be a conjoining and unifying
stream focused at world evangelism!
